Trip to Nainital

Hey,

I had been to nainital last weekend with some of the office guys .. Infact it was a trip organised by people from my office and I had joined at the last day to be a part of the trip ...the schedule was to leave delhi on friday night , reach Nainital on saturday and start back on sunday night to reach delhi on monday morning (i must say it was pretty tight schedule to begin with) .All that week daily was covered with clouds and it was raining almost round the clock ..with all roads water logged and Bombay experience in the back of our minds, the situation looked grimmer than it was actually. On friday, I left office around 4:30 PM as it was raining and I had planned to go to home ,pack my stuff , buy new pair of sports shoes and then start for the railway station ...I was to meet another frnd on way to railway station and we were to go toghether ... rather we had planned to take metro on our way to Old delhi railway station... I was to travel in metro for the first time in my life and must congratulate those people .. they had done a marvellous job in bringing it up..The stations are clean and well maintained .. with proper lighting and state of the art systems to support the entry to the trains ... You can't enter the station with proper ticket amount in your coupon and the coupon is checked both at the time of entry and exit from the station...The metro train was scheduled to come at 21:21 and it was on the dot (which was shocking for me .. how can a train come on time in India? No delay even for a minute ..man these guys have really done awesome job)...and the journey was equally comfortable with no jerks on the way no noise of train and no hoch poch .. the journey went smoothly and in total 40 minutes(of which 10 min were for waiting) we were at the old delhi railyway station ....
In the train we played Dumb C(though I must admit I was pathetic in this game and to give you a feel of my grueling situation I was not able to guess even a single movie ..thank god it was a team with some studs who used to guess in no time) .. on friday I slept at 3:30AM .. and was woken up at 5:30 AM .. to get down from the train .. The station was kath godown and we were to take buses from here to nainital ...It was about an hour and a half long journey .. But as soon as we got down from the train we were able to feel the difference in the temperature ... mercury would have gone down by atleast 10degrees and the clouds hided the sun to make it worse ...
We later came to know that it was raining for last 4 days and we were lucky not to have any land slides as otherwise the trip would have been cancelled ...The buses were to take us to a point from where we were to board jeeps and qualis to reach to our booked hotels ...Our entire troup was divided into 2 separate groups for the sake of hotel accomodation and I was put in Chevron Hotel..It was a good resort earlier a YWCA building on a hill top and with a view of naina lake from the garden (somehow some people didn't liked the hotel and the food served.. for me I was just back from bangl after 2 years and thus was liking everything) ...On saturday , it rained throughout the day and all our plans were washed away(literally) but how can that happen .. while some people decided to play tambola ,I and 4 other guys moved out of hotel and roamed around in Nainital .. the idea was to move out of hotel even if it rains ... and it was amazing experience .The fear of rain is only till the time you do not get wet .. after that it doesn't really matters as to what happens .. me and other 4 guys had got completely drenched ..but Nainital looked more beautiful when freshly washed by rain .with vacant roads and cloudy sky it was a gr8 sight... We covered entire lake in rain and on our way took two breaks .. 1) for tea and 2) for tea and alloo ticki .. that was the best thing to have in rain .. hot tea and alloo ticki ... the steaming tea and aroma of fried potato made us more hungry and we ate whole heartedly ... and then decided to start back as by this time we were feeling a bit chilly and freezing ... The place we were staying was good but was on a hill and the climb to it was good steep u can say probably some 60degrees and the rain made it look all the more steeper .After reaching hotel we just got freshened up , got into dry clothes(I thank my mom for forcing me to take extra jeans with me) and waited anxiously for the dinner to be served. After the dinner I just retired to my room and slept well ..Day two continues
